Hello,

I'm Vicky, a 38-year-old mother of two who moved to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2014. I've worked in hospitality all my life, and always enjoyed customer service jobs. But after my twins were born, I quit my job to take care of them until they started preschool at about 3 years old. This time was great and hard at the same time. I was able to take the kids to playgroups and Mummy groups, but I got very lonely too. When I'm stressed or overwhelmed, I turn towards food, so I put on quite a lot of weight and got even more unhappy.

As the kids turned 1, I thought it was time for a change. I signed up with a very lovely local gym, which offered a play area for the kids every morning for 1.5 hours. This was the time they offered group fitness classes, so it was a clear win for me! I got some "me time" and did something to change the situation I was in. I really enjoyed group fitness because I didn't have to make a plan; I just had to show up.

That's how everything started. I got really into fitness and a healthy lifestyle. This wasn't only great for me, it was great for everyone in my family, as I usually cook the meals. I changed my approach to cooking and looked up more whole food recipes. I started to make many things from scratch, and that's where another passion was born: the love of cooking and baking.

I'm passionate about helping people live healthier lives and improve their quality of life by getting moving. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find the time and motivation to exercise, especially when you're busy and have a lot on your plate. But I believe that everyone can find a way to get active, and that even a little bit of exercise can make a big difference.

Why I started Eastside Fitness

I started Eastside Fitness because I wanted to share my passion for fitness and help others live healthier lives. I also wanted to create a community of people who support and encourage each other on their own fitness journeys.

My personal fitness journey

I've always been active, but I never really took my fitness seriously until after my twins were born. I was feeling sluggish and tired, and I knew I needed to make a change.

I started going to group fitness classes, and I quickly fell in love with them. I loved the camaraderie of the classes, and I loved the fact that I didn't have to think about what to do; I just had to show up and follow along.

I started to see results quickly, and I felt better than ever. I had more energy, I was sleeping better, and I was happier overall.

I'm now a certified personal trainer, and I love helping others achieve their fitness goals. I believe that everyone can find a way to get active and live a healthier life.

If you're looking for tips and motivation to get active and live a healthier life, then I encourage you to join the Eastside Fitness community. I'm here to help you on your journey!
